A classic baked ziti recipe with layers of pasta, cheese, and marinara sauce.

  • 1 pound ziti pasta
  • 24 ounces marinara sauce
  • 15 ounces ricotta cheese
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F.
  2. Cook ziti pasta according to package instructions. Drain.
  3. In a bowl, mix ricotta cheese, egg, basil, oregano, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
  4. Combine cooked pasta with marinara sauce.
  5. Layer half the pasta in a baking dish. Spread ricotta mixture on top.
  6. Add remaining pasta and sprinkle mozzarella and Parmesan cheese.
  7. Bake for 25 minutes or until cheese melts and turns golden.
  8. Let cool for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • Use whole milk ricotta for creamier texture.
  • Add cooked ground beef or sausage for extra protein.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
