Homemade candied orange peel without corn syrup.

Ingredients

  • 2 large oranges
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup water

Instructions

  1. Wash the oranges thoroughly.
  2. Peel the oranges and remove the white pith from the peel.
  3. Cut the peel into strips.
  4. In a saucepan, combine water and sugar. Stir until sugar dissolves.
  5. Add the orange peel strips to the saucepan and bring to a boil.
  6. Reduce heat and simmer for about 45 minutes until peels soften.
  7. Remove from heat and let the peels cool in the syrup.
  8. Once cool, roll the peels in granulated sugar to coat.
  9. Let them dry on a wire rack for several hours.

  • Choose organic oranges for better flavor.
  • Store in an airtight container.
  • Use leftover orange segments in other recipes.
