  • 1 cup grated Gruyere cheese
  • 1 cup grated Emmental cheese
  • 1 clove garlic, halved
  • 1 cup dry white wine
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon kirsch (cherry brandy)
  • Freshly ground black pepper to taste
  • Crusty bread, cut into cubes for dipping

Instructions

  1. Rub the inside of a fondue pot with the garlic halves.
  2. In a separate bowl, mix the cheeses with cornstarch.
  3. Heat the wine and lemon juice in the fondue pot over medium heat.
  4. Slowly add the cheese mixture, stirring constantly until melted and smooth.
  5. Add kirsch and black pepper, stirring well.
  6. Serve with bread cubes for dipping.
