- 4 large potatoes, thinly sliced
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup milk
- 3 tbsp butter
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1/4 tsp nutmeg
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Butter a baking dish and layer half the potato slices.
- Sprinkle half the cheese, garlic, salt, pepper, and nutmeg over potatoes.
- Repeat layers with remaining potatoes and seasonings.
- Pour cream and milk over the layers.
- Dot with butter and cover with foil.
- Bake for 45 minutes.
- Remove foil, top with remaining cheese, and bake for 15 more minutes until golden.
