A hearty and comforting soup made with ham and beans.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ham, diced
  • 1 cup dried navy beans, soaked overnight
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 carrots, sliced
  • 2 celery stalks, chopped
  • 4 cups chicken broth
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 bay leaf
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. In a large pot, sauté onion, carrots, and celery until soft.
  2. Add garlic and cook for another minute.
  3. Stir in the ham and cook for a few minutes.
  4. Add soaked beans, chicken broth, bay leaf, salt, and pepper.
  5. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 1.5 to 2 hours.
  6. Remove bay leaf before serving.
