- 1 pound ham, diced
- 1 cup dried navy beans, soaked overnight
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 carrots, sliced
- 2 celery stalks, chopped
- 4 cups chicken broth
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 bay leaf
- Salt and pepper to taste
- In a large pot, sauté onion, carrots, and celery until soft.
- Add garlic and cook for another minute.
- Stir in the ham and cook for a few minutes.
- Add soaked beans, chicken broth, bay leaf, salt, and pepper.
- Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 1.5 to 2 hours.
- Remove bay leaf before serving.
