A classic Swiss cheese fondue recipe using Gruyere and Emmental cheeses.

Ingredients

  • 200g Gruyere cheese
  • 200g Emmental cheese
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 300ml dry white wine
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 2 tbsp kirsch (cherry brandy)
  • Freshly ground black pepper
  • Fresh bread cubes for dipping

Instructions

  1. Rub the inside of a fondue pot with garlic.
  2. In a pot, heat the wine and lemon juice over medium heat.
  3. Gradually add grated cheeses, stirring until melted and smooth.
  4. Dissolve cornstarch in kirsch and stir into the cheese mixture.
  5. Season with black pepper.
  6. Serve immediately with bread cubes for dipping.

Notes

  • Use good quality cheeses for the best flavor.
  • Adjust the thickness by adding more wine if needed.
  • Keep the fondue warm over a low flame while serving.
