- 1 cup of shredded Gruyere cheese
- 1 cup of shredded Emmental cheese
- 1 cup of dry white wine
- 1 clove of garlic, halved
- 1 tablespoon of lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon of cornstarch
- 1 tablespoon of kirsch (cherry brandy)
- Freshly ground black pepper to taste
- French bread, cut into cubes for serving
