1 bottle (750ml) red wine
1 orange, sliced
1/4 cup honey
4 cloves
2 cinnamon sticks
1 star anise
1/2 tsp nutmeg
1/4 cup brandy (optional)
Instructions
Pour the red wine into a large pot.
Add orange slices, honey, cloves, cinnamon sticks, star anise, and nutmeg.
Heat on low for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally. Do not boil.
Remove from heat and stir in brandy if using.
Strain into mugs and serve warm.
Notes
Use a dry red wine like Cabernet Sauvignon or Merlot.
Adjust sweetness by adding more or less honey.
For a non-alcoholic version, replace wine with grape juice.
