- 8 oz Gruyere cheese, grated
- 8 oz Emmental cheese, grated
- 1 cup dry white wine
- 2 cloves garlic, halved
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 1 tbsp cornstarch
- 1 tbsp kirsch (cherry brandy)
- Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
- Freshly grated nutmeg, to taste
- Crusty bread, for dipping
- Rub the inside of a fondue pot with garlic halves.
- Pour in the wine and heat until warm.
- Gradually add the grated cheeses, stirring constantly until melted.
- Mix the cornstarch and kirsch, then stir into the cheese mixture.
- Add lemon juice, pepper, and nutmeg to taste.
- Serve with cubed bread for dipping.
