- 1 ham bone
- 2 cups dried navy beans
- 8 cups water
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 carrots, diced
- 2 celery stalks, diced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 bay leaf
- Salt to taste
- Pepper to taste
- Soak beans overnight in water.
- Drain and rinse beans.
- In a large pot, combine ham bone, soaked beans, and water.
