A simple recipe for cheese fondue that does not use wine.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups shredded Gruyère cheese
  • 2 cups shredded Emmental cheese
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1 garlic clove, halved
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • Salt to taste
  • Freshly ground black pepper to taste
  • Assorted dippables (bread, vegetables, etc.)

Instructions

  1. Rub the inside of a fondue pot with the garlic.
  2. In a medium bowl, mix the shredded cheeses with cornstarch.
  3. In the fondue pot, heat milk over medium heat.
  4. Gradually add the cheese mixture to the heated milk, stirring constantly.
  5. Once melted and smooth, add lemon juice, salt, and pepper.
  6. Serve with dippables of your choice.

  • For a smoother texture, use freshly grated cheese.
