Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup red food coloring
  • 1/4 cup pink food coloring

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, cream together the butter and sugar.
  3. Add the egg and vanilla, mix well.
  4. In another bowl, combine flour, baking powder, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture.
  6. Divide the dough into two portions.
  7. Add red food coloring to one portion and pink to the other, mix well.
  8. Scoop tablespoon-sized portions of each color and place them on a baking sheet.
  9. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until edges are slightly golden.
  10. Let cool before serving.
