- 4 lbs beef short ribs
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 onion, chopped
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 2 cups beef broth
- 1/2 cup soy sauce
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 2 tbsp cornstarch
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tsp black pepper
- Heat olive oil in a skillet and brown the short ribs on all sides.
- Place the ribs in the slow cooker.
- In the same skillet, sauté onion and garlic until soft.
- Add beef broth, soy sauce, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, and black pepper. Stir well.
- Pour the mixture over the ribs in the slow cooker.
- Cover and cook on low for 8 hours or until tender.
- Remove ribs and skim excess fat from the sauce.
- Mix cornstarch with a little water and stir into the sauce to thicken.
- Serve ribs with the thickened sauce.
Notes
- For a deeper flavor, marinate the ribs overnight.
- Use low-sodium soy sauce if preferred.
- Serve with mashed potatoes or rice.
