Ingredients

  • 4 lbs beef short ribs
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp black pepper

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a skillet and brown the short ribs on all sides.
  2. Place the ribs in the slow cooker.
  3. In the same skillet, sauté onion and garlic until soft.
  4. Add beef broth, soy sauce, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, and black pepper. Stir well.
  5. Pour the mixture over the ribs in the slow cooker.
  6. Cover and cook on low for 8 hours or until tender.
  7. Remove ribs and skim excess fat from the sauce.
  8. Mix cornstarch with a little water and stir into the sauce to thicken.
  9. Serve ribs with the thickened sauce.

Notes

  • For a deeper flavor, marinate the ribs overnight.
  • Use low-sodium soy sauce if preferred.
  • Serve with mashed potatoes or rice.
