A delicious and visually stunning strawberry chocolate dome cake, perfect for special occasions. Layers of moist chocolate cake, fresh strawberries, and rich chocolate ganache create a delightful treat.

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1.5 cups granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup cocoa powder
  • 1.5 tsp baking powder
  • 1.5 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 1.5 cups fresh strawberries, sliced
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 8 oz semisweet chocolate, chopped

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. In a large bowl, mix flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Add eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla. Beat on medium speed for 2 minutes.
  4. Stir in boiling water. The batter will be thin.
  5. Pour into prepared pans. Bake for 30-35 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.
  6. Cool cakes in pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  7. For the ganache, heat heavy cream until simmering. Pour over chopped chocolate. Let sit for 2 minutes, then stir until smooth.
  8. Place one cake layer on a serving plate. Spread with half the ganache and top with sliced strawberries.
  9. Place the second cake layer on top. Cover with remaining ganache.
  10. Chill for at least 1 hour before serving.
