A sweet and spicy spread made with bacon, perfect for sandwiches or appetizers.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb bacon
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup
  • 1 tsp red pepper flakes
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper

Instructions

  1. Cook bacon in a skillet over medium heat until crispy. Remove and drain on paper towels.
  2. In the same skillet, sauté onions until soft.
  3. Add brown sugar, vinegar, maple syrup, red pepper flakes, and black pepper.
  4. Chop the bacon and add to the mixture.
  5. Simmer for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  6. Let cool and store in a jar in the fridge.
