Ingredients

  • 2 cups cooked ham, diced
  • 1 cup dried navy beans, soaked overnight
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 carrots, sliced
  • 2 celery stalks, sliced
  • 4 cups chicken broth
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1 teaspoon thyme
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. In a large pot, sauté onion, carrots, and celery until tender.
  2. Add garlic and cook for 1 more minute.
  3. Stir in ham and soaked beans.
  4. Add chicken broth, bay leaf, thyme, salt, and pepper.
  5. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 1.5 to 2 hours.
  6. Remove bay leaf before serving.
